Machinery Mounting Solutions designs, manufactures and sells mounting chocks under the brand name RotaChock.
This vendor manufactures reusable chock solutions for rotating machinery mounting. The emphasis of the RotaChock during a recent presentation was a mounting system that is easy to install, adjustable and reusable. Mounting jobs that take days with epoxy resins, milled chocks or shims can be finished in less than an hour with RotaChock.
There are a number of crucial benefits in using a RotaChock, compared to other procedures or products:
- Speed: A RotaChock is installed quickly. A machine set up on a RotaChock can generally be realigned and secured within one hour. In comparison: using epoxy resin chocks for a repair, re-mounting would require at least three days for the machinery to function again. One day to break out the old resin and align, one day to make coffer dams and pour and a day for the epoxy resin to cure in normal summer temperatures (longer for cold weather). Making traditional steel filler elements takes even longer with material and labor costs makes it much more expensive.
- Optimum Contact Surface: The RotaChock has a spherical bearing that ensures the best possible contact surface, even if the foundations and the machine foot are not parallel. In addition, the RotaChock is height-adjustable. The combination of these two features avoids “soft foot”, the situation where the foot of a machine or equipment does not properly link up to the base it is mounted on. Parallel soft foot and angular soft foot are the most frequent causes of poor alignment.
- Any Desired Torque: The RotaChock’s behavior is similar to a solid steel chock, and the RotaChock allows the foundation bolt to be tensioned to any required torque. Epoxy chocks, in contrast, have a maximum load of 3.5N/mm2. This relatively low load often results in bolts that are almost loose.
- High Loads: RotaChock’s competitive edge is the high load rating and adjustment range. The RotaChock employs a buttress thread at a fine pitch which increases the thickness of the material at the nominal thread diameter in comparison to other thread forms. The result: higher load carrying rating. Another benefit of the buttress thread form is that it has a big footprint in comparison to others. The surface area of the lower ring that is in contact with the foundation is greater than competition for nearly all sizes, so the pressure exerted on that surface is dispersed over a larger area.
- Reusable / Field Adjustable: If you at a remote location and need to tear down and re-align a piece of machinery, RotaChock makes the job easy. The chocks are reusable and realignment can be complete in less than an hour.
Comparison to Other Mechanical Chocks
There are similar mechanical chock products in the market. The people at RotaChock gave the following points:

- RotaChock allows larger adjustment range.
- RotaChock is less expensive than others and has no minimum order requirements.

HyTorq Propellers
Michigan’s acquisition of Hall & Stavert of PEI, Canada, in 1996 brought on additional resource to supply the growing pleasure boat market of the late 1990’s and into 2009. The HyTorq line established a reputation of high quality, and has a strong following for replacement on applications where they were original equipment. With the market contraction, Michigan Wheel Marine consolidated operations in Grand Rapids. All current Hy-Torq propeller patterns and the majority of equipment was brought in to Grand Rapids. Hale MRI

Experienced propeller shops prefer the Hale MRI. With the Hale MRI reporting, the propeller shop can get absolute recognition of propeller condition. The Hale MRI features linear transducers that transmit extremely precise 3-D data to the computer, including measurements of: pitch; rake; track; spacing; geometry; and camber of ANY propeller.
